Let Google know your site exists.

For your site to be known / visible / registered  by Google and other search engines.  
You need at least one of the following.

Have links from an already known website pointing at your site. 

Don't hesitate to leave the address of your website on the web… 

Leaving relevant comments with your site address in your signature at other websites with a similar topic to yours is an example among others…

You can also manually register your site into the main search engines. 

  For Google you can do this at http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl

  For Yahoo you can do this at http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html
